After establishing The Discworld Stamp Collector on Facebook (not been there? just click on my signature) it became clear that Facebook cannot be used as an archive or a reference. Though you can page down and down and down ad infinitum there is no way to easily find old posts. So I have created http://www.muba.eclipse.co.uk/The%20Discworld%20Stamp%20Collector/index.html" rel="nofollow - The Discworld Stamp Collector website to focus on some issues in this genre, looking in depth at the stamps and the background behind them. Currently only four topics are covered, but these will increase in time. There will be no logical order to the topics, apart from publishing when sufficient material has been gathered. You are invited to ask questions, point out errors, or supply further information. Enjoy!

Fabulous stuff, Steve. I wish I had your research rigour but you're setting too high a standard!
Just as a matter of interest, why did you choose the Howondaland Wahoonie as your banner theme, logo, icon, or whatever is/are the right word(s) to use for the purpose(s) to which you have applied the image of this particular stamp. Is it just your favourite? Or is there a deeper significance? Or a or shallower one?

It's one that I like, and I wanted a DW stamp as the theme. It's a little quirky because it says FAUNA top right, when the Wahoonie is FLORA. This stamp lent itself to having the page titles inserted at the size, though some are a tad too large. There are other stamps I could have used, and may still, if I decide to update the theme.

Only certain contents of my brain Keith.
I have a few other issues to look at in depth, but after a few weeks of staring at these stamps, and scanning and all that, I need a change and get on with other stuff. Other stamp things are piling up. However I will say that the while the earlier issues have given me more to write about, I will do some smaller features on more recent issues. We collectors need more surprises.

Alzheimer-proofing the Discworld Stamp issues, one by one!
It must have taken you ages to research and write all this stuff from so many different sources, Steve.

Thanks Colin. Alzheimer-proofing laced with a bit of mythology busting. Cinderella philatelists at present probably consider DW stamps as a bit of a novelty, but sometime in the future they will inevitably evolve into classics. Until now we have had detailed listings of the stamps, but missing the discussion and the background. That discussion has been here and there, unstructured, on forums and in emails or messages. There have been half-remembered stories that have been repeated; some just do not add up, but collectors blithely and naively accept them without thinking. And, perhaps those who would question the statements do not as going against the accepted 'truth' would be seen as heresy. Often questions asked cannot be answered. I certainly won't be covering each and every stamp issue. Many just do not have anything to be said about them. They lack any variations, and no background to the stamps has appeared. I hope some of today's collectors find something there to read, and it provides them with further collecting possibilities. I wish I had a big box of 'commons' that I could sort through and find more stuff and nonsense to write about.

I have just posted a topic on the Discworld Stamp Collector website all about the http://www.muba.eclipse.co.uk/The%20Discworld%20Stamp%20Collector/html/yotp_10p_green.html" rel="nofollow - 2004 10p Morporkia Green . Would you believe I have found 13 versions of this stamp for completists to hunt down?

It's a great article Steve, your online archive is shaping up to be the 'go-to' site for serious Discworld collectors but its plain-English and logical approach also makes it an excellent resource for beginners.
The research on the other Discworld stamps featured on your website is also consistently well-argued, asking questions and leaving gaps where you do not have definitive information and inviting others to provide the information required to later create the complete picture.
Hopefully some of the members here (or elsewhere) will be able to provide the missing pieces.

Thank you for that endorsement Colin.
When the 10p Morporkia Green aticle was added, the sharp eyed reader would have noticed that there were some updates to the Offler stamps and the YotTR Patrician Sports (as well as typo corrections elesewhere). I hope to be able to add more to all articles and expand over time.

OK, thanks for that, it was more complicated than I thought From what I've read so far that's a very in depth and informative series of articles. I was aware of some of this but much of it is new to me. I'll continue reading but great research and very well presented and argued.
Thanks again,
Daniel

I did have a couple of ideas. One seems daunting as it is likely to be the largest and most complicated - can you guess. The other I would need to round up more material to pad it out ... oops ... I mean cover it in depth. To be honest, I suddenly find I have time to do something, coinciding with a spark of inspiration that gets things going.
However the next thing will actually be updates to the 10p Morporkia. I have dug something out of my archive disc to write about, hoping for an email soon that will improve on the background, and had a couple of snippets sent to me that should not be left out.
Then we'll see ....

To clear things up, the article on the Sto Helit stamps was written as a response to the revelations concerning the Green Susans on the Discworld Stamp Catalogue site a few days previously; as announced on the Emporium stamp forum. The total lack of any comment on that forum post is a bit of a mystery. I don't think it is correct to call the Discworld Stamp Catalogue as being on the Emporium website. It clearly has its own domain URL, and it is probably Steve James' own independent view of Discworld Stamps.

There's been more updates of late. A bit to the Sto Helit stamps showing more of the 4p and 1p during development. There's additions to the $5 Brass Bridge, with original artwork and some discussion. And the first TOA also has more, with more on the development of the designa and the various printings all based on recent acquisitions and my trip yo the British Library.
