I have quite a number of these in various form. Still need to sort through a batch of 100-200 Scandinavian ones, and have a selection of those from USA. I may have some scanned already, but will take a while to sort them out if I haven't. Looking for something different I just stumbled on these Denmark Xmas seals from 1962 An illustrated map (there must be term for this sort of map) of the old trades of Denmark. Each stamp can stand on its own, but each is a crucial part of the whole. Nice stamps - but maybe I am also biased. I have quite a lot of newer Danish Christmas stamps, from the 80 s and 90 s, but they are stored at my mothers house. I should try to find them some time. I also have some from Greenland. When I was a kid, You used to get a sheet if you wrote a letter to julemanden (santa claus), who as everyone (at least anyone in Denmark) knows lives in Greenland. |

A few more for the archives 1933. 1934, 1942, 1948, 1962 Anyone know if Crippled Children was multi year? No date showing (.....looking at the Daffodils I think they may be Easter seals - not Christmas).

I have some other Crippled Children seals, but laying my hands on them is not an option. They are 'somewhere'. Whether mine are from the same source, or whether this title is generic is unknown. Steve I have some red and black 'Crippled Children' on a white background - not sure if they have a date or not. Cant lay me hands on those at the moment.

Some National Society for Crippled Children InfoTragedy Leads to InspirationIn 1907, Ohio businessman Edgar Allen lost his son in a streetcar accident. The lack of adequate medical services available to save his son prompted Allen to sell his business and begin a fund-raising campaign to build a hospital in his hometown of Elyria, Ohio.Through this new hospital, Allen was surprised to learn that children with disabilities were often hidden from public view. Concerned by this discovery, Allen put all his efforts into collecting private donations for a hospital to provide services for disabled children. In 1915, the Gates Hospital for Crippled Children was established solely for disabled children and the services were offered free of charge.When the community hesitated to accept the free services, Allen enlisted the Rotary Clubs of Ohio as volunteers to help gain the trust of the communities and assist with the care of the children. By 1919, Allen and Ohio Rotarians established what became known as the National Society for Crippled Children, the first organization of its kind. The organization had chapters throughout the Midwest and north-east, including Pennsylvania, just two years later. | Very nice, i Haven't seen these before either. Appears to be the Aargau Women's League to Combat Tuberculosis founded in 1909 in Baden in the Canton of Aargau, Switzerland. The organisation then spread to to other towns. It looks like these are 40th anniversary stamps for those towns joining the League. |
