Yesterday I was putting the extras from my Valentines package into the album with, and I took the oppertunity to go through the stamps i have and comparing them to the listings on AskMeAbout.

I came across some variations of the Laernu Sporten stamps which I don't think are listed.

The first is a version of the 2F with two rowers, possibly siameese twins

The second is a variation of the 2F with a bright green horisontal band

And the third is a 11F with the ball kicked, and some green and purple colouring. At first I thought is was part of a frank, but it is actually part of the printed image.

The fourth and last is a Large size gold foil stamp, which is different to the ones listed. It may be a foil version of the "no players variant" -I don't have a regular of that to compare with.

I'm sure there are many more variations of these out there- it would be fun to see some of the others.

The 11F is on askmeaboutstamps as number 28vc. But the others look new and will cause an update of the catalogue I suspect. Well spotted Anne.

Now i see that the 28vc is the same as I have Embarrassed I thought it was a "normal" 11F with a purple stain, but I didn't look at the picture.

The picture is rubbish. We'll have to re-scan a lot of the early Laernu stamps. Steve and I were begging and borrowing when the pages were first done and I think we can all collaborate on something a lot better.

If only there were more days, with more hours, in a week!

Here are a few additions to the growing list.

First is kind of the twin to Anne's half-mirrored 1F rowers above. That one is half-mirrored about a vertical axis (so the right half is the same as the right half of the normal stamp and the left half is the mirror image of the right half). This one is half-mirrored about a horizontal axis (so the bottom half is the same as the bottom half of the normal stamp and the top half is the mirror image of the bottom half).
Second is a version of the 11F footballer sport which has extra dots/splodges of yellow (top left, bottom right and I think a smaller one bottom left) and I think pink (top right) - as people will know who met me on Saturday, my colour perception for some colours is very wayward.

Third is my example of the Sporten foil stamp, which is the 11F footballer sport.

I am beginning to suspect that each of the 15 copper foil sportens were different. How I wish I had bought them all ;)

Or indeed any of them. Grrrrrr.

I blame Susanne. She didn't tell me about Colin's stamps until (I think) 2008.

Those copper foiled Sportens were an experiment I did when there was an expectation that a Discworld gold Dwarves, or Alchemists Guild stamp might be required.  The processes available for our budgets at the time were particularly tricky and a bit hit-and-miss so I didn't take it further.

The stamps were of different designs, the idea being I wanted to see how the foil would react to different weights of line and dots - the point where it either blocked up or fell off.  Not all the designs on the sheet were a success.

I've just come across another color variant of The Waterwalkers with a large horizontal green band and a narrow horizontal yellow band, both on the bottom half.  I'll get a scan.

I thought the most notable example of a premature obit was that of Samuel Clemence, and that these were rare. However a quick search revealed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premature_obituary - all this .

Just spotted a new variant from the original Sportens. I was comparing the new designs with the old ones using images saved and spotted a 1F rower with narrow cerise lines down the extreme left and right.
