My order came super fast.

I don't know whether I have said this before, but it was theoriginal Dead Letter Office grim reaper issue that made me want Colin's stamps. I then found the Laernu continentals and then I was hooked.

It's going to be a while befoe I have sorted out all the Ghosties and decided how many of each design in each colour there are, but for those who ordered the mixed packet stamps (previous batches too) - have a look at the back of the Werewolf and some of the Halloween stamps.

I have identified one variant on each of the Dead Letter Office sheets, but is there a second? There seems to be the same possible variant on the same stamp position; or is this a print artefact?

I think that there are essentially 12 designs making up the Ghosties sheets, so each single colour sheet has one of each.
However, one Ghostie on one sheet is a variant. Just the one for now but will keep looking. The regular stamp for this colour is not present on the mixed sheet.
The mixed sheet has 11 of the designs with one repeated in different colours.

Or do I count the same Ghost image mirrored or positioned diferently as a regular stamp and variants? Will get back to you on this.

Another way to look at the Ghosties is that it is possible to identify 4 basic designs. In each of 3 of the designs the Ghostie is repositioned, rotated a bit, and stretched. One is on 5 stamps, and 2 more are on 3 stamps each. A final design combines all three Ghosties. Now if one goes along with this, which of each Ghostie is the standard design, and which are the variants. Or are there no standard stamps, but each of the 3 Hosties has 5 or 3 variants?

I have decided that the best way to catalogue the Ghosties is to base it on 3 basic designs with 3 or 5 alternatives of each in the three colours. Then there is a fourth with all three ghosts, again in the three colours.
On top of this there are non-sheet variants. I know of some but would like to know if anybody has any more. They are designs which do not appear on the regular single colour or mixed colour sheets. Those that I have seen have been fairly obvious. And I suspect there will be 12 in total from a a sheet of mixed variants, with diffeernt colours.
Please post here if you have a variant, or pm me on the Forum. I would like to put a full listing in a future edition of the Cinderella Philatelist. There will be an update to the All Hallows stamps up to 2023 in the October issue.

Alternatively..
as the images of the Orange, Purple and Green Ghostie sheets are available for everyone to see ....
couldn't you just identify each Ghosties stamp by its position on the sheet.
The Mixed sheet is then...
row1column1 = Red r2c2
r1c2              = Green r1c3
r1c3               = Orange r2c3
r1c4               = Red r3c2
r2c1               = Green r2c2
r2c2               = Orange r1c4
r2c3               = Red r3c4
r2c4               = Green r3c4
r3c1               = Orange r2c2
r3c2               = Red r3c3
r3c3               = Green r2c1
r3c4               = Orange r3c1

I think I prefer my method as it relates to the actual designs. However I may be able to combine them

Just wanted to confirm that the Mixed Bags contain not only
the previous issues of the All Hallows Post Office,
the new Two-Tone Grim Reaper stamps (where there is probaby a 1 in 16 chance of finding a variant )
and the new Ghosties (12 different stamps in 3 different colours plus a "variant")
but also Alternative variants of the Ghosties (not on any of the 4 sheets on sale in the FarFetchedPhilately shop) some of which have a passing resemblance to a certain "dark knight"

The mixed bags do contain Dead Letter Office (Grim Reaper) stamps from 2025 and some from 2022. The does seem to be a 1 in 16 chance of a variant.

There does seem to be an over abundance of Ghostie variants. Perhaps 12, but more likely 24. Indeed I have seen images of 16 of them. In total its likely there are equal numbers of each colour. Yes one does have that comic appearance.

Really need info on what others have found in order to be able to catalogue them, and have no info on perhaps 8 variants. Selvedge on images helps immensely.

I think it is safe to say that there were two sheets of mixed colour variants. Here are two different bottom left corners with the tesxt TEST SHEET OF VARIANTS. They seem to have the same layout as the mixed normal sheets on sale in yerms of size and colour positions. This means a potential of 24 Ghostie variants to find. I hope to be able to reconstruct both sheets from pairs and images of pairs of variants.
Still unsure how to name these though.

Before I buy up the remaining stock of mixed bags on Etsy, I thought I should check roughly how many stamps an average 10 stamps per bag actually equates to in reality?

Does 'average' mean I might receive 6 or 7 stamps for my £7.00? Compared to the cost of a Discworld LBE it seems expensive, although the Emporium have never actually provided an estimate of how many stamps their bags contain and I know that can vary.

What have any other buyers found?  And is this the only way I can acquire the many variants?

Expect a minimum of 10 stamps in a packet but bear in mind that there will be other All Hallows issues included. I think this is the only way to get Ghostie variants. But you may be able to trade any other variants if lucky enough to have spares.

Hi Matt

Welcome back to the UK!  I was wondering why the Etsy brown bags stock had suddenly disappeared...

Steve is correct, I try to put a minimum of 10 random stamps into each bag, take a look at the examples shown on the listing - those are genuine bags I have made up and then randomly selected to open and photograph when I am listing. That gives you a good idea of the mix of content.  Etsy don't like the idea of selling 'a minumum' of mixed content so 'an average' seems to be a fairer description for buyer and seller and this seems to be OK with Etsy.

I cannot compete with the price of bags at the Emporium, they have staff who can do this during quiet times, and the shop creates thousands of stamps that can go into the bags, including the ones returned through the exchange system (though I'm not sure if that is still running, it's been a while since I looked at their site). I am sure that after 20+ years of making LBEs they will have a system set up that is quick and simple to activate, whereas my system remains chaotic!

I have very little clear space here in my office so usually will only produce 50 bags at a time, I physically cannot lay out any more batches than that in the space I have here!  The sheets need to be carefully torn, the stamps counted into piles, which I then usually try to ensure do not carry any duplicates, then packed and sealed - it doesn't sound like much but it can wipe out half a day that I would otherwise be doing 'proper' paying design work or continuing with the Valentine's issues.  If I need the space for anything else during that time then the whole table-load gets swept into an envelope and I have to leave them for another day. The upside of that is that sometimes, months later I find a neglected bag full of stamps I had forgotten about!

My primary objective with the mixed bags is to give Etsy buyers the choice of buying whole sheets of one design or a pack of mixed designs.  Many Etsy buyers use them to decorate Halloween projects - party invitations, gifts etc - and they are not concerned at all with the stamps themselves. I always add a note suggesting that Etsy buyers join the forum to trade their leftover or duplicate stamps but very few join and I don't recall any of them ever publicly trading though I hope that might happen via private messaging.

I have always added a bit of a premium to the price of mixed bags because of the extra time that goes into producing them compared to the sheets.

I hope that goes some way to answering your questions, I will make up some more mixed bags as soon as I have time, keep an eye on the page  :-)  You can always PM me here with any questions.

I have Just updated the Laernu & More website for the past two years. It provides an introduction to all the Laernu, Isle of Vue, All Hallows Post Office and other related stamp issues.

That wasn't me who bought up all the stock of mixed bags so I am very grateful you have added some more.

There are *clearly* other variations not yet found, or if found, not mentioned here, also there are variations on the envelopes too.

I shall wait until after Halloween to reveal all if nobody here spots anything first.

Thank you!

I think I have cracked the variant ghosties, but I am just waiting for some decent images of paired variants to be able to reconstruct the sheets they came from.

Does everybody want to wait until Halloween for a reveal, or give it just a little bit longer?

I have the two variant sheets mapped out, also, but frustratingly I'm missing one green Ghostie which I think should look like this. Its definitely green ! and its definitely from row3col3 (so should say POST OFFICE in the bottom selvage)

(There is a similar green stamp on the mixed sheet on sale in the Etsy shop but in this one (in the image below) the ghosts are lower down -the one on the mixed sheet has one of the heads reaching the top of the frame)

Does anyone have a spare one and is looking for a swap ??

I see that the envelopes of mixed Halloween stamps has sold out. This means there are now no new Ghostie variants to be had .. at least for now. I will leave folks time to sort out their purchases and then reveal what I reckon are the 24 variants and how I think the 2 mixed sheets were layed out.

Etsy now restocked... it's difficult to know how many sheets to tear up for the mixed bags but if they don't sell they will just go back into the mix for the next year's Halloween issue.  I just hope I don't run out of sheets in the meantime.

Thanks again for your support!  Thumbs Up

I am trying to collect a full set of the pairs of stamps at the bottom of the Grim Reaper sheets that include the Batley and Edwards logo.  Does anyone have any spare to trade?

I also have some of the gulley pairs now for the different coloured grim reaper sheets. I have one example which is imperforate on one side. Is this rare?

There were two sheets I noticed that hadn't been perforated correctly, the first one I put through the perforator again but left as mixed gulley pairs, the second I thought 'why not' and tore it up as gulley pairs with one side not perforated - so you have been lucky to find one.  So yes, your mixed value gutter pair, without the perforations on one side is going to prove rare - maybe 1 of 4?

The Batley & Edwards logo pairs are not so unusual, and have been included in the mixed bags since the smaller 'Dead Letter' design was released onto Etsy, I am confident you will be able to complete the set through trading.  Smile

As Halloween draws near I have noticed I have far too many mixed Halloween bags left on my Etsy page.

Getting the quantity right has been a challenge this year as, due to Mr Trump's tariffs, I have not been able to sell to the USA. In previous years that has been a busy market and I now have stock left over.

So, rather than tear the bags up and put the stamps back into the mix for 2026, I am offering the bags at a 15% discount, limited to 20 bags per order, first come first served.

Happy Halloween!

I was hoping to collect examples of all the Ghosties as single stamps - reconstructing the original sheets. However I am a few short, so have a look at the Members trades and swaps section.
