Greenpeace has for several years issued cinderella or local post stamps for use on their campaign support vessels and also in the earlier years from their Antarctic Base situated in the Ross Dependency. These stamps pay the cost of postage (or local carriage) on postal articles from the vessels concerned to the nearest regular postal collection point. Stamps are denominated in New Zealand Dollars and have been issued through their Auckland Headquarters.

Arnart Chalon Reproductions

There have been various reproductions from the original plates. The Hausberg versions from 1906 in black are, perhaps, the best known. These green versions were produced later but I'm not sure of the exact date but based on the Hausberg editions.

The conservation organisation GREENPEACE began issuing its own special stamps as fundraisers in the 1980s and 1990s. These covered the fee for carrying mail on its own ships travelling between NZ and Australia, and the Greenpeace base in the Antarctic.

These minisheets ceased issue in 1995, but for 2021, the 1995 minisheet was overprinted to call attention to the need for a green response to Covid-19, and climate change.

Some were shown earlier in this thread by Bas Warwick, but the images seem to have vanished.  So here they are again.

These stamps have values on them. Do those reflect any possible postal use?

I suspect the values shown on the stamps are carefully calculated to total $5, as being a "reasonable" price to sell these minisheets for.

I haven't seen any actual postal use, only FDCs (probably CTO, like most modern FDCs.)

Fund-raising was the main function of these sheets, rather than post.  And judging from the many sheets issued, quite successfully!

Some NZ stamp catalogues listed them. And thematic collectors love them!
