   The private Channel Island of Brecqou, near Sark, has had a regular but moderate series of issues for the past few years, often nicely designed. I see that they did a 2010 Christmas issue. It doesn't seem to be illustrated but ordering details are on the pricing pages at the menu on the left of their website:

	Would I be making an understement if I suggetsed that the owners of Brecqhou hardly need the income from a local stamp issue?

	The owners are David and Frederick Barclay, who own the Daily Telegraph and quite a lot else. But the stamp issues have always been run by much smaller enterprises, I assume under some sort of licence. And the stamps are actually used on the citadel of Brecqhou itself, or so it is said. A rather austere collector once commented to me that there are only two "real" locals in use in the British Isles, Lundy and the Summer Isles. But I think Brecqhou might count too. Mark V

	iirc the Barclay Brothers were instrumental in bringing about democracy in Sark, ending over 400 years of tradition and feudal society. God thing, bad thing? The Sarkese had had time to bring about the changes themselves if they had really wanted to. I have veered towards what you call the austere view of British Island locals. But I would add other postal services to that list. You ommitted Herm, presumably because it no longer exists. Pabay could be added, not for the independently produced labels of the 70's but for those that were issued under the control of the owners. I believe that Rona does offer a true postal service even if the majority of stamp sales are to collectors. I am two minds over those islands where day trippers catch a boat across, buy a stamp and postcard off the boatman, post a letter whilst there and the mail returns to the mainland with same day trippers to be forwrded to the Royal Mail. We could endlessly debate the the merits and validity of each island, but in reality all the issues are collectable, but collectors should be aware of what they collecting and tailor their collection accordingly.
