As always my first port of call is the collectors.

Can anyone help with a 300dpi scan for the upcoming magazine, showing the 2019 Wirral Scouts Christmas post. I have a line drawing but need the stamps to display in the magazine. There are five stamps in the set and so far over the past six months nothing has appeared on ebay!

Please message me if you can help through these boards.

Much appreciated - Thanks

Hi Colin,

Yes the images can be seen in the latest Cinderella Philatelist as it was a full article showing the stamps that the Wirral Scouts and Guides issued during the period of issue before Covid closed it all down, So the stamps have a start and a finish time to them.Clap

Are there any plans to relaunch the stamps post-Covid?

Colin,

Many scout and guide groups closed down, but I think gradually they may eventually start up, slowly at first and then when they join together cover a larger area. Our best bet is to offer our skills in print and designing to help one local scout group to get up and running, then next year another group may see what they are doing with fund raising and be inspired to also start up and join them.

Cinderella stamp people ... creating cinderella stamps for future cinderella collectors.

Les

I hadn't realised that had happened - my days of running my boys to the village hall for such things are long past - hopefully the Scouts & Guides will bounce back.

I will what is possible locally.

Our (tiny) village post office closed (our Postmaster was Mr Stamp, priceless...) because the Royal Mail decided that even though it was making enough profit to remain open they would rather it was part of a larger retail environment and not in, effectively, Mr Stamp's living room. So it's gone - and now we all have to go to the next village - a few miles away but with two buses each way day that might as well be Mars for many of our residents - and our post is sorted in a town some 12 miles away so arrives later and, frequently, things go astray and arrive later with some grumpy handwritten note on the front!

So I am guessing a local Christmas post service here might go down rather well.

Thanks, Les, for the inspiration  :-)

Ah Yes. But the post office have it all wrapped up.

Only (as far as I know) registered organisations like the scouts, girl guides, boys brigade, hospitals etc can use the Christmas period to collect money for themselves and also donate to a local charity provided they do not use the local postal service for delivery but deliver everything themselves.  And they must provide there own post box as well LOL

Yes - I wasn't thinking of starting my own postal service in the village at Christmas but will find out what local Scouts/Youth services are still in operation and offer my services to help with getting some of their designs printed as stamps.

I also have some some stamp-book dispensers, and, somewhere, a proper post box. They can charge and collect for their own funds and donations as they see fit.

Stay tuned!
