Hi
I think Cinderellas may be too broad a subject for a single, even simplified, catalogue. A look at eBay will show 500-1000 new entries each day. While many of those listed will be duplicates I reckon you could find over 200 unfamiliar items daily. There are however specialist catalogue. The Cinderella Stamp Clubhas a number available, and their quarterly magazine, the Cinderella Philatelist, has a number of ongoing articles which act as catalogues of stamps within a collecting niche. Recent article include stamps of Bruce Henderson, Pre-WWI fund raising stamps for German speaking communities, modern fantasy stamps and GB 1971 Postal Strike stamps. The Revenue Societyalso have publications relevant to their interests. Ask Me About Stampslists cinderellas associated with members of this forum. You can find items on auction sites too. But I was a tad disappounted with a catalogue of fantasy stamps which arrived as a DVD with scanned images from a publication from the 1930s. Perhaps I didn't read the listing fully. I have also seen similar for GB Railway Letter services, and Local Island Posts. The problem with many of these listings is that they are certainly incomplete, and one should bear in mind accuracy. Have they been proof read or are they just the work of one person. Even the societies admit that completeness is a factor. But that is what makes Cinderella and Revenue collecting rewarding - you can always find something new. That can rarely be said for 'ordinary' stamps. Lack of suitable reference materials and access to the internet provides individual collectors to publish what they know, filling in the gaps of collecting knowledge, and helping others |
