Hi, I've been a forum member for a while now and have been made so welcome I feel right at home, thank you.
My interests are labels/stamps from small islands that don't have a post office (or even a population!) I take photos, get the stamps printed and then visit to create the first day covers.
I don't know if anyone else is intested in this subject, you all seem so exotic!
Here is a link to my photobucket album which shows some of the stuff I've done. Its pretty poor in comparison with the superb penmanship I've seen on other stamps here, but hey, it gets me out.
Cheers

. . . hi Keegan, seemed to have missed welcoming you before now, sorry. Oh! I have just noticed that you got 'here' first.
Don't put your efforts down. Good images nicely produced. We will all be interested how you get your perferating done for sure.
I have approached the use of a British Island on Cinderella Stamps slightly differently. The Isle of Samson is an uninhabited Island in the Scillies. It is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, and tenanted by The Scilly Islands Wildlife Trust. They have granted me the right to produce stamps etc for Samson, which I have started to do this year. I will have about 3 issues per year.

How do we get our hands on this stuff? I must have a Godrevy Island stamp/stamps/FDC!

The covers are fantastic. I'm with Hilary - who do I have to beat up to get them?

Hi Steve, appreciate your comments, my ultimate aim is to encourage the islands owners to issue their own stamps, thereby making myself redundant. There have been almost 80 different islnads that have at one time produced a postage label since Lundy started the idea in 1929.
Sadly fewer than 20 still do.
In cases like Flat Holm, Drake's Island and Skomer which are owned by the local council they are missing out on a good source of income. With all the reductions in funding these days you would think they would explore these avenues but all seem reluctant. Of course an official issue trumps anything I do and I would no longer do anything to tread on their toes.
I'm trying to arrange a trip to the Scillies to do an issue from Gugh, there has been a gap of about 30 years and it needs resurrecting! Mainly it will be islands around the south west but my ultimate trip would be to St Kilda which is outside the Outer Hebrides. Its on my bucket list.
Cheers

Oh don't do that! While they are possibly losing a bit of income, this is only potential income. I prefer to see the fun side of these issues, which is whee you come in, rather than having them as a merchandising exercise. But if they exercise a conservative and relevant issuing policy then that's second best. |

I agree with Steve. By all means encourage them to issue their own, but what's wrong with showing them how it's done? You are potentially creating a demand. But if you don't let us know soon how we can get our grubby mits on your stamps, I for one will scream and scream until I'm sick. |
