I have just come across a quantity of Ajman stamps in a bulk purchase
Apparently 99% of the Ajman stamps are not listed in Scott because Scott believes they were "not issued primarily for postal purposes."
So are they therefore cinderellas? Anyone?? |

It will depend on your definition of Cinderellas I suspect. If you are all inclusive, saying that anything stamp-like that is not used for regular postal services is a Cinderella, then yes. Most will class these as 'bogus'; I think that is the term. There have been many countries, notably but not exclusively central Africa, where a similar situation has occurred. It seems that no-one is too sure who printed the Ajman stamps. And one wonders whether the mass of irrelevant issues emanating apparently from states like Benin actually led to any income for those countries.
A similar situation has occurred with some British Island locals. Joolz ha given the background to these here. They do make colourful thematic packet fillers. |
