Not sure which section of the forum to post this in (admin - feel free to move this thread to somewhere more appropriate) but, as Colin needs a minimum number of people to "sign up" to prod him into prod-ucing an Isle of Vue Valentine's Card for 2011, I thought I would try to encourage participation from the masses thronging here in our very own version of Tahrir Square.

Well, I'm in and have pmed Colin to that effect - any other takers?

If the card comes with a different, stamped, cover then I am in and have sent Colin a PM.

What can you offer us, Colin?

Although I'm guessing there needs to be a few more of us before you can offer us anything.

Me too!

I would normally design something loosely related to the subject of the stamp on the front of the card, then a fairly simple elegant inner page, with a bit of descriptive text about the stamp on the back.

Then on the cover itself, how about perhaps both the two standard stamps plus their variants?

I suppose I'd better get cracking, 6 requests already...  Smile

Will still need at least another two though...  and I am assuming everyone will be happy paying £16.50 for the card, cover and COA; same price as last year?

Sorry - I meant talking about money publicly - if anyone doesn't want to discuss whether £16.50 for the card, cover and COA is OK for them by all means let me know by PM.

Thanks!

Due to a combination of work commitments this week and some delays in sourcing exactly the right image I want for the front of the card (I have been trying to establish publishing rights) I won't be able to deliver the Valentine's Cards to the Stampex show this weekend.  Sorry.

It is well on the way though - and I will include a special insert card listing the names of those who commissioned the card too.

Well, at least we will have the pleasure of receiving another exciting envelope in the post from you in due course, Colin. We have a new postie on our walk here and he apparently deemed the latest envelope from you with the Valentine's items to be "interesting" when he delivered it care of our neighbours whilst we were away for last weekend.

I'm pleased your new postie appreciated them!

Another hold up on the card image I am afraid - so a change of design direction may be necessary.  All was going well until the seller learnt that the intended use was as a card (OK, so I mentioned it in an email, in a effort to speed things up) and everything changed, apparently their archives are for display only, not reproduction.  I think they Googled the image and found out what it was worth elsewhere.

All good fun as an old mate of mine used to say  LOL

I'll believe that when I see it.

But I'll leave some cash in the bank just in case it's not a joke.

I just put £1 in a deposit account. I reckon compound interest should cover Colin's next

Colin, next year you should try selling your cards (and stamps) a couple of weeks before Valentine's day when there is more interest, I think most men go off the notion of Valentine's by the 15th February, can't comment about women of course.  And maybe add a service that gives you permission to send them anonymously to third parties..

. . . not the best idea, Steve.

Your plan immediately lost 20% to admin costs, and with interest rates at .05% wont be worth £1 again until 2034. (Or later depending on the reslts of the Irish Election)

I spotted a comment from one of the older collectors on another forum that said:

''If you collect stamps you don't just do the nice ones.''  How sad.

How many substandard designs would it take before they tarnish the value of the 'nice' ones?

PLEASE no-one out there ever buy any of my stamps for any other reason than you like them.  Shocked

Precisely seconded!  I really love all your stamps.  I've only just spotted this thread.  Is it too late to get in on a card?  If it is, I completely understand.
