We had a pretty good start on a cinderella reference section on the first forum. There were a number of members who contributed info on their favorite books and periodicals. Unfortunately, it was one of the areas that was not "saved" before content mysteriously vanished.

Anyhow, I'll start by reposting a link to http://www.artistampnews.com/references - some of the references I had previously made. Don't hesitate to add (or REcontribute) your own reference titles or perhaps links to pertinent info... or maybe links should be a separate subject.

I may be able to repost some of the others, but have other more important stuff to worry about at the moment.
If you continue to post toast, I will see if I can fill gaps later.

Found a partial list that I had saved earlier... I did not save reviews and such, so anyone who may have those in theie archives, please consider resubmitting. If memory serves, these are from Daniel, Steve, Keith and perhaps a few others.

The Newspaper & Almanac Stamps of Great Britain & Ireland By John H Chandler and H Dagnall. This was published for The Great Britain Philatelic Society by GB Philatelic Publications in 1981. It deals with the newspaper tax introduced in 1712 up to 1870 by which time the tax was used for postal purposes. Although the rate changed over the years the central design remained the same for most of that time. This is the best and most comprehensive book on the subject and is fully illustrated.

Creating a Good Impression (Three hundred years of The Stamp Office and stamp duties) by H Dagnall and published by HMSO in 1994. The Stamp Office was responsible for the collection of revenue on documents, contracts, newspapers, cheques, dice etc imposed over the years and still exists. Typically, the tax was shown by embossing stamps on documents, although this was not the case with newspapers which had hand or printed stamps (marks not postage stamps). This, of course, includes the stamp duty imposed on the American colonies which lead, in part, to the War of Independence. A great find and it even includes a special Stamp Office tercentenary embossed stamp.

Entropia by Christian Lorenz Scheurer.

First Post by Peter Davies and Ben Maile published for The Post Office by Quiller in 1990 to celebrate 150 years since the Penny Black. This is nicely illustrated and despite its remit includes a history of the mail including William Dockwra's penny post.

The Whole World Stamp Catalogue was published by Pan in 1981. The idea, and a very good one, was to show current stamps and postal products from around the world and covered 200 countries. A great idea that needed updating regularly but, sadly, wasn't.

Collect British Stamps is published every year by Stanley Gibbons and illustrates most stamps in full colour. This is the equivalent of Scott's.

As far as artistamps are concerned, I have 'The Book of Stamps' published by Cabinet Books in 2008 which contains actual sheets of stamps bound into the book from various artists. Excellent.

Stamps Of Mass Destruction Vol 2 by James Cauty features what might be termed his agitprop stamps and contains a sheet of these stamps.

Alice Through the Pillar Box by Gerald M King published by Whizzard Press in 1978 features Alice in Wonderland stamps and stationery invented by Mr King. Truly fantastic and a source of inspiration for others, I'm sure.
more Gerald King "catalogues". Gerald has created a number of collections based on Lewis Carroll themes, as well as an Alternative Lundy series amongst others. If you want a laugh or two or even more while you philatelitate have a read of these "priced catalogues" (Daniel mentioned one but I forget which so forgive the repetition).

Curiouser and Curiouser The Postage Stamps of Wonderland 1840-71

Alice, The Millenium Collection (Covers both Wonderland and Looking Glass Land)

The Postage stamps of Wonderland 1840-1865

Snark Island Postage Stamps Postcards etc 1876-1901

Lundy, The Alternative Collection. which covers the postage stamps, revenues, officials, railway stamps, telegraphs, postal stationery and postal history - this last has letters sent from Lundy to real and fictional characters.

Postal History of Lundy Island by F.W.Gade. Stamps and Postal History of Lundy Island by Jon Aitchison. M.S. Oldenburg, Lundy's Supply & Mailboat by Stanley Newman

Herm Island Stamps and Postal History. Herm Island likewise operated a post from 1949 to 1969. A collector can go for used covers, the bisects used when stocks ran low and even a pigeon post stamp.

College Stamps of Oxford and Cambridge by Raymond Lister. Some Colleges of both Oxford and Cambridge Universities used an ancient law to operate a postal service for students and lecturers in the 1870s. These stamp issues have ben well studied and documented

The College Stamps of Oxford and Cambridge, A Study of their History and Use 1870 to 1886 by Hayman Cummins.
