Yup. Yet more ancient Discworld stamps stuff bagged up on http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/52cherries/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=" rel="nofollow - https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/52cherries/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= for anyone who is interested...

Even if you don't want to actually bid or even buy, it's quite good fun to go through the piccies and spot the sports, rares and oddities such as colour shifts and perforation errors...

What fun, knock yourselves out...  LOL

And those two green Susan sports are back, be brave.

I have worked out what had happened - and this should be a warning for others to check in future...

When I typed 'ebay' our wonderful new forum software recognised it and automatically inserted a link to the site.

It turns out that this new addition to the software (probably paid for by the link software company) is now a 'free' addition to the existing software. In order to have it removed I would have to upgrade.

Presumably when an automatic link is inserted it acts as a click-through advert and anyone who follows the link will trigger some sort of payment activity.  This activity does not benefit our forum or its owners.

I would suggest that anyone posting be very aware of this as it could lead to confusion - for example unintentionally advertising or appearing to endorse a product, service or political group.

I apologise for this, I didn't sign up to it and it is yet another reason why I may have to change our software supplier at the end of the year   Unhappy

And it's done it again...

Changed my typing of  e b a y  to a link to that auction site - AFTER I had finished posting.

I am not happy about this at all.  Shocked

I have problems with autocorrect on my notepad. It has even re-corrected my text after I put it right. This and predictive text should be consigned to somewhere deep, dark and damp for all eternity.

I can see the need for some level of autocorrecting and predictive text - but at least you have the option of switching it off.

With the Vigilink system used here the only way I/we can switch it off is to upgrade to a premium version of the software.  Surely that implies on the part of the software makers that most users will want to switch it off and they will gain from it - not the best advert for a product!

What next?  The software people can add on any old crap to the basic software and tell us to upgrade to get rid of it.

I note the word 'Vigilink' itself does not automatically turn into a link!
