Brilliant stuuff from Alan and Colin yet again.

It's nice to have a set of 4 this year, with all the usuals that we tend to expect, plus a pile of extras that bring the Isle of Vue to life. I have a number of admission tickets to the various attractions (just the sort of things people would keep as souvenirs), but think there may be more in other collector's mailings. Same with the five Swedko's I have. Of these I have two taken by Thoams Ramsay, but no actual ones by Thomas Swedko himself. I will post up some pictures soon.

All four regular variants located

Alan has absolutely nailed it with the illustrations. He has they body language of the 'models' spot-on for pairs of courting couples. Well done, especially with the amount of detail in there. Is that a bird nesting box on the tree?

I wonder if we have similar or different extras included.
Did you get a Love Swing tete-beche pair on the card?
A rose coloured Poetry Corner with a different variant in the Early Bird?
A purple Love Swing tete-beche pair in the Forum extra? I haven't yet spotted a different variant here (yet).
Does your colour test sheet match the one pictured on listing eBay? Mine does, but on the posting envelope I have two non-standard coloured stamp that are not on that test sheet. Hence other sheets may exist. In fact all the extras were likely to be derived from sheets with non-standard stamps produced for specific purposes.

Thank you both for such a great issue. You have raised the bar so high that it will need a pole vaulter to match it.

Before I sent out the CDVs I took a picture of some of them so I would know not to do it again...

It's a deliberately fuzzy picture - BUT you can see, there are plenty for everyone, and lots of variations, so no spoilt surprises!

I think I have unravelled the Variants - very Only Connect

Please do not hesitate to post up images or descriptions of what you received. I am trying to compile a full listing.

The listing runs on ebay until 14 March so plenty of time left yet - BUT if you'd like to find your own variants without seeing them broken down here first it looks like you'll have to buy sooner rather than later.  This particularly applies to overseas buyers, none of whom have yet reported receiving their deliveries.

The 'Early Bird' reward of a free variant stamp ends tomorrow, but as in previous years, the free variant stamp for forum members will run until the end of the listing.

SPOILERS
Below are the Swedko cards (fronts and backs) and admission tickets which I received.

I wonder whether the couple top left are no longer a couple! The tearing in half of the card seems clearly intended to indicate that something of a split has taken place between them.

Note the reference to Peter Yorke on the back of the bottom left card.

The Tunnel of Love seems popular. Although note that only one of the three entrance tickets is for "Admit two" whilst the other two are only, and it seems to me rather sadly, for "Admit one".

There is handwritten text on the back of three of the entrance tickets, as follows:
  • Maison Tropiken: "HALF DAY"
  • Splashenwishen: "14 Market Place.."
  • Sporten: "Won the 3 legged race"

The backs of my photos. A bit boring compared to yours Joolz

Some of the tickets and photos do seem to tell a story.

My tickets all say Admit One apart from one, so perhaps it was normal to 'Go dutch' there. I think I need to buy something more to see if I can get a few more tickets to match yours. There does seemt o be plenty to do on the Isle of Vue. Here's a list of atrractions so far:
Parks and Gardens
Carnivale
Kermisen
Museum
Maison Ameriq
Maison Europ
Maison Tropika
Cliff Walks
Lake (something)
Splashenwishen
Sporten
Tunnel of Love
Casen de Ceren
(something)amento
Cl(something)
There could be a Maison Centro and Maison Arcta also
Any suggestions as to what the Casen de Ceren and Kermisen may be? The first may just be Laernuan for Tunnel of Love. Now why didn't we have a stamp for that?

Let's just say that had Alan had a little more time there would have been a Tunnel of Love stamp - it was shortlisted and thumbnailed but we started to realise how much work was already involved in producing 4 stamps and variants and we had to draw the line somewhere.

Alan was keen to graffiti 'Zazz is a Wonker' on the entrance to the tunnel...  LOL

Maybe another year?

I began this forum as a place to discuss and share ALL cinderella stamps. It is my first forum and is not perfect BUT I will endeavour to make it the best available.

Any positive help appreciated!

SPOILERS
I forgot to scan this in last time but here is the research paper I received in my Isle of Vue package. Was there just the one example this year? Or do others have different versions?

I have the same. I believe its all on the two pages.

Which stamps did you get in and on the card? And on the Royal Mail envelope?

My Stampex card off Colin arrived today. Only 11 days by 1st Class Royal Mail! However, worth the wait as it is themed very nicely with this issue. Love the visual pun Colin; nice one.

Has anybody else noticed the tribute to Quilpusha, formerly an active member of the Forum and still missed?

Having failed to attend the annual gathering this year, I wonder whether I am still in line for a Stampex special this year? I will certainly be watching the post with interest over the next couple of days! That's if the London posties are willing to brave our treacherous icy pavements, of course.

I mentioned the reference to Peter Yorke (Quilpusha) that is on the back of one of the Swedko cards in my post earlier in this thread. Have you spotted another?

By the by, in answer to your earlier question about extra items and stamps on my Royal Mail envelope, the details are as follows:

SPOILERS

The tete-beche pair on my Valentine's card comprises a Floral Gardens variant (left-hand, upside-down) and a Poetry Corner standard (right-hand, right-way-up).

My early bird stamp is a pink Poetry Gardens different variant with what looks like two birds in the sky above the couple which I took (in the spirit of other variants) to be the lovebirds from the 2012 Isle of Vue issue.

My forum extra is a purple The Love Swing tete-beche variant pair, both stamps are JN inscription variants.

My colour test sheet looks like the one pictured on the ebay listing although the colours in Colin's pictures actually seem more vibrant than those on the sheet itself.

The stamps on my Royal Mail envelope seem pretty close in colour to the issued stamps but perhaps a slight shade paler. They are a vertical pair, which appear to be a The Love Swing standard above a Poetry Gardens variant.

No worries. I didn't do much of a job of highlighting it. Just mentioned it in between the images. Shame though. I was hoping you had found another reference to the late great Pusha-da-Quil.

Thanks Daniel

So who spotted the theme that ran through the variants of this issue?

The Poetry Corner variant had a Bunny of Love poking its head above the flowers in front of the two lovers.
On the beach below the Cliff Walk a Cocoa d'Amour hs been washed up.
A pair of Laernu Lovebirds are flying oover the gazebo in the Floral Gardens
On the tree trunk by the Love Swing Jacques Neuhaus has carved his initials and a heart.

And of course you may find a variant of a variant!
