Don't be shy... come on here and introduce yourselves... old and new  ;-)

There seem to be more people visiting and joining than ever but so few posting - why not say hello!

Just a few words, let us know your interests and how you found us - and, most importantly, what you'd like to see featured here on the forum in future...

Thumbs Up

We've had quite a few new members joining during the Covid months... I suppose people have been at home more than previously... so PLEASE don't be shy, tell us a bit about yourselves, what your interests are and even post up some pictures of your favourite stamps or collections.

There is a thread under 'FAQs' which explains how to post pictures (it IS easy, if I can do it anyone can!) and pictures make such a difference to a post.

WELCOME to all our new members!

I have not noticed this thread before (I have my settings adjusted so that only the last 6 months of posts appear) but it's quite sad to see how many members no longer post here. Quite a few members for the first year still there but so many lost along the way.

Perhaps new members can tell us why they joined the forum and whether they were directed here by a member or by a search engine? I have noticed Colin trying to get us to log-in via a search engine may be the need to be more "out-there'.

On some forums it is mandatory for all new members to make an introductory post before being allowed to join. There are pros and cons with this approach. I think that it is a good idea since it 'breaks the ice' over posting on the forum and may encourage further posts. We need more members to post comments and images.

I have intentionally tried to keep membership here as simple as possible, I wouldn't want people to be put off joining because they would have to identify themselves on arrival.

However I totally agree that it would be great to see more members posting comments and images.

We get lots of people popping in or lurking, surely it's no great shake to sign in and make a comment about the threads people are looking at?  Opinions and discussion are what keep creativity alive;  knowledge drives interest; why belong to something if you are not going to contribute?

Hi, I am Juergen Schwarz, located in Berlin, Germany. Selected my nickname because I operate "Capricornia Post", a micronational postal service issuing stamps. Actually, I am also responsible for Posta tal Musograd, a competing micronational postal service, and for the real world company yourstamps, some of you might have heard of.

Interested in stamps since very long ago, I stumbled over an article covering Maluku Selatan, Sedang and Nagaland as a kid, which got me hooked. These days, collecting stamps and cinderellas in a rather unsystematic way, but enjoying it that way.

Earlier this year, a friend pointed me to the fact that Sandy Island, with a long tradition of cinderellas, was looking for a new manager, as its creator, Fabio Vaccarezza has sadly deceased in late 2020. I was selected to keep up that tradition and will keep this forum informed about new issues for the island!

Both Capricornia Post and Posta tal Musograd are very open to set up stamp exchange agreements with other entities issuing their own stamps, especially micronations and imaginary countries.

Hello everyone - I'm Neville, aka Strider.  I'm from UK, living in Buckinghamshire.   I've collected stamps since the mid 1970s, with interests ranging from France, Scandinavia and Ireland to line engraved recess printed stamps from all over.  It was in that area - the engraved stamps - that I began to come across cinderellas.  I think the first was a reprint of Austria's 1933 WIPA stamp - the Wedding Journey - in red instead of blue.  Then I came across an exhibition label engraved by Schirnback for the 1911 Wien stamp exhibition, and I was hooked.
So now I aim to focus on exhibitions of various sorts from the first half of the 20th century.   I must admit, it seems alarmingly unstructured to be setting out to collect without a catalogue!  I'm looking forward to learning the ropes, as we say, from the forum.

Hi Strider

I think one of the joys of many Cinderellas is that the absence of a catalogues is that you can do your own research - and even find out things others never knew. You can set your own limits as to what is significant and collectable; you are in control.
