The Sporten(s) are a work in progress - prototypes if you like - printed, like the Zeppelins and the Cats to test the quality of a new printer and paper.  I will put some of the prototypes in 'Sticky bits' mixed bags later in the year - hopefully, by then, with some other new designs.

Just wanted you all to know 'I Aten't Dead'...  When I get a decent source of stamp paper there will be a flurry of new issues  :-)

The Forum Anniversary stamps will be available soon and will be numbered and VERY limited!

HI, just to say a big thank you Colin for your excellent Stampex card. I came back from a short holiday last night planning the clothes washing schedule and found your card which cheered me up greatly!

Nice stamps with a great touch of humour, god, this is sounding like a review - I will stop immediately.

Genuinly appreciate it though...

Hi Steve,

The card Colin kindly sent me bears the same stamps as yours. It's nice to see the creations of my fellow forum members in the flesh as you can appreciate the craft and the humour in them. Helped by your commentary and observations on the individual stamps, Sure is an ugly cat !

There ARE differences!

The cards received a great reception from the Royal Mail team who were hand-cancelling them.  In previous years there has been a giant Post Box at Stampex where I could simply drop the cards in and walk away quickly - but this year the box was gone and anything requiring a hand-cancel had to be handled in person and in a maximum of 3 per person, so I had to speak to the Royal Mail staff behind the counter, and explain the relevance of each individual stamp, and the forum, and the card itself. I was very pleased to hear that the previous years' cards were remembered and our conversation lead to some interesting developments which I intend to take advantage of in years to come.

Thanks to both of you for your comments. I sent out over 20 cards so it's nice to know a couple of them arrived safely  Wink

Sorry to be slow to upload the image of my card. Busy week last week and busy weekend (trip to Newcastle). There are some obvious differences to Steve's card on mine, and perhaps some less obvious ones.

Thanks Julian.
The new Sportens begin to to look interesting. Same value, same sport but different coliurs - a full blown issue once Colin has sorted a gummed paper supply
and different se-tenants / tete-beches of the 5 Anniv stamps
