A few more bags going on eBay...

We have had quite a discussion (via PM and here) about how I might best sell off my old collection but I keep coming back to this as the best method.

It means new collectors have a chance of picking up a bargain, particularly with the older common stamps that have long since been recycled for GCTS points.  As requested, I have tried including more corners and edges where in the past I would have torn these off. And I have tried introducing more bags with only commons where in the past the temptation was to 'spice these up' by adding a sport or collectable stamp, hopefully this will help keep the price down for new collectors.

And it gives older collectors the chance to fill in the odd gaps in their collections, even if that means acquiring a few duplicate stamps along the way... (why not offer those to new collectors? Or advertise them for sale on the Market Place here and escape the dreaded ebay and paypal fees?).

I have tried to pitch the starting price at a point where speculative accumulators (I struggle to call them collectors) are less inclined to hoover them up at the end of the auction when they have received no bids - but at a point approximately the cost (elswehere on ebay) of half the individual stamps listed. Should that still happen then at least I have covered the cost of listing and have something for my time - but if bags don't sell then I can recycle them here.

I am also going to experiment with some 'librarian-style' multiple listings - though this will mean splitting some sheets but as whole sheets don't seem to sell this seems like the best alternative - let's see if that works out any fairer over time,

I hope this helps, I know I can't please everyone but if anyone can see a better way let me know - I am open to ALL suggestions!

HERE ARE SOME POINTERS TO LOOK OUT FOR
- not an inclusive list so still worth looking closely at every bag!:

Military Patrician 1p

'Valentines' Perforation Seamstress 2p

Ankh-Morpork 2p Sport

Thieves Guild Sports

Green Penny Patrician

Red Penny Patrician

Eminence Gris 1p

Cabbage Civic 1p

Clean Ear 1p Sport

Blurred face 1p Sport

Cartouche 1p Sport

Flipped A 1p Sport

Hogswatch Snowman sport

10p Morporkia Red

Koom Valley 10p Trolls and Dwarves

Genua Headless chicken sport

Owlswick Half Penny - all 4 variations

A whole minisheet of 3 Tower of Art sports stamps

A $5 Purple triangle

A Brass Bridge Blue $5 triangle

There WILL be more, these highlights only apply to the bags scanned and packed on 4th April...

I hope that makes it interesting for enough people to make it worth listing!  Sometimes these days the listings only get 10 views each and then only a couple of watchers so I'd say the chances of winning are pretty good!

Perhaps it doesn't help having my listings finish when 'Line of Duty' is on the telly!  Maybe that's why the majority of bags go abroad?

GOOD LUCK!

Colin
