An offer you can't refuse perhaps?

Hi

I'm considering preparing a series of Cinderella items under the title "Welsh Postal Curiosities". A number of ideas are already in preparation, and more under consideration. There's about 20 so far, but some may be dropped or others added.
Each will comprise stamps or a stamp, cover or documents, and a background story to the postal service. I should try and think of a better title to the series!

I was hoping to offer these free to forum members, but a quick session on the old calculator suggests that I should charge £1.50 - £2.00 per issue to cover the cost of postage and materials; my time comes free. Remember that you get more than just a stamp for this price.

Would anybody think they are likely to subscribe to such a series? I am not looking for a firm commitment from anybody yet. I need to sort out some printer problems first. I'm just looking for an idea of how many may be interested.

What do you think? Post here or email me.

Re: An offer you can't refuse perhaps?

Hi Steve,

Having seen some examples of your work in the recent issue of the Stanley Howler Journal, I am definitely interested and would be happy to pay the prices that you are suggesting. The examples shown look fantastic and they were clearly impressed at no.41. I was going to contact you anyway about this.

Highly recommended.

All the Best,

Daniel

Re: An offer you can't refuse perhaps?

Hi Steve

If you would like any of your latest stamp designs included in the header panel at the top of the page please send a jpeg of them, along with a description and their dimensions, to cinderellastamps@btinternet.com and we would be pleased to add them to your existing designs there.

We aim to update the headerboard every month so if anyone else would like to add their own stamp designs to it please feel free.

New stamps will be added over the existing ones so the headerboard will eventually resemble a collector's desktop! Admin reserves the right to use only stamp designs which they feel appropriate and of a sufficiently high standard, obviously anything overtly political or offensive will not be used.

Good luck

Re: An offer you can't refuse perhaps?

Hi again

Printer fixed, PC up and running, and I'm back with a shortened moniker.

Any more takers for the Welsh Oddities? I have just 2 so far, but the first issue is virtually ready and I'd like to prepare what's needed in one swoop rather than in dribs and drabs.

Hi Steve!  Which issue of the Stanley Howler journal showed your stamps?  (Although I think my subscription has been prematurely cancelled - have to look into it!)  Can you put up some pictures here?  Thanks!

Hi Suzanne and Mark

It was the latest Journal issue 19 and they were for the postcard competition.
So there were some Omnia stamps
Omnia 33 obolOmnia 20 obal

and a Brown Islands stamp
Brown Islands

I also faked the original Rat stamps for a Bad Blintz postcard.

Re: An offer you can't refuse perhaps?

Thanks for the emails Susanne and Simon. I hope I can give you colonials and ex-colonials a taste of Wales, and make Wales distinct from England for you. I once dpent hours trying to educate a guy in Pennsylvania that England, Great Britain and Untited Kingdom are different, and that Wales not not part of England. I still don't think he believes me.

Please tell them all... ENGLAND is not Wales !

We often visit Abermaw/Barmouth just for the day. When the kids were younger they'd spend a competitive hour crabbing on the quay. Then a boat trip across to the Fairbourne Railway and/or time on the beach. The prom looks smart now they've put up the 'palm trees'.

now I wondered if this meant the Welsh were the meek. You wouldn't think that at 1am on a Saturday night in Wrexham
